When members of this groundbreaking book club began writing poetry during the COVID lockdown, De Facto Books decided to self-publish the collection. And they needed an author web design that would establish their unique brand, help with marketing, and facilitate online and in-person sales.
SEE HOW WE DID IT
Because De Facto Books was transitioning from a nonprofit book club to an independent publishing house, they needed more than just a website to promote their first book. We worked with them to develop their overall brand with vision statements and a refined logo.
As an organization that works on the front lines of prison reform, the book club’s authors brought a level of intensity, rawness, and optimism that we wanted to reflect in the web design. We accomplished this with dark shades, high-contrast colors, and candid, joyful photos of a few of the original book club members.
This was a unique author web design project because we needed to do more than just introduce the poets and promote their latest book. We built the website on Shopify because it does a great job managing inventory, processing sales, and simplifying shipping, all things De Fact Books would need.
